Biography

Habib Ahmed is the founding Chief Executive Officer of MobileCoreX Limited (MCX), a Nigerian-incorporated Mobile Virtual Network Enabler headquartered in Abuja and licensed under the Nigerian Communications Commission’s MVNO framework. He leads MCX’s regulatory engagement with the NCC, commercial strategy across institutional MVNOs, the partner ecosystem underlying the platform, and the institutional capital programme through which MCX is funded.

Habib has overseen the assembly of the MCX technical-partner stack across every layer of the platform — the core mobile network, the business support and revenue management systems, SIM and eSIM activation and identity, revenue assurance and fraud management, the B2B2X marketplace, and the colocation and security infrastructure underneath. Each partnership is operator-grade, contracted on commercial terms appropriate to institutional infrastructure, and selected for the durability of the integration rather than for ease of demonstration. The result is a platform built on the same vendors and standards that operate Tier-1 mobile networks internationally, assembled and contracted in Nigeria for institutional MVNOs.

Before founding MCX, Habib spent more than two decades in corporate-development and operating roles across institutional sectors including pharmaceuticals, information technology, industrial services, and manufacturing. His background combined principal-side capital experience with operating responsibility, and it is that combination — assembling capital, partners, regulatory positioning, and operating teams simultaneously — that he has applied to building MCX in the institutional MVNE category.

Habib’s strategic thesis for MCX is that the institutional MVNE opportunity in Nigeria is a platform-infrastructure opportunity, not a consumer telecom opportunity: the value lies in operating the network, BSS, activation, marketplace, and regulatory infrastructure beneath dozens of MVNO brands — banks, fintechs, consumer groups, enterprise affinities, foreign operators — rather than competing with them at the retail layer. The architecture of the MCX platform, the named-partner stack, and the multi-host network design all derive from that thesis.

Habib is based in Abuja. He sits on the MobileCoreX Limited Board of Directors as an Executive Director and represents MCX externally to the NCC, host mobile network operators, institutional investors, and prospective MVNOs.
